As my friend Alex once astutely pointed out: I am high-maintenance, but I can maintain myself in the most extreme conditions. I like to look good, but would never sacrifice time or efficiency in order to do so. So until now I have never even entertained the idea of owning concealer. It seems so fussy. You have to apply it with a brush, it’s cakey, and overall it’s rather pitiful — it makes that zit you are trying desperately to hide even more obvious. Then there is the matter of the hiding: shouldn’t you be trying to eliminate the problem rather than concealing it? (More on this later.)
The fact is, there is no miracle cream that is going to make your zits disappear and sometimes you just need to cover those suckers up. This weekend Renato showed me the way of Clé de Peau’s all-purpose concealer. You can use it on zits, under your eyes, or wherever you want to even out your color. It literally melts onto your skin and is undetectable as it gives you a beautiful, even complexion. Renato applied it with a brush but I applied it with my fingers and it came out just as fabulous. Perfection doesn’t come cheap, though; the $70 price tag sent me into momentary shock. But the concealer will last for at least a year and this is not the place to be frugal.

The Clé de Peau concealer continues to win beauty awards year after year, and this year it was named InStyle’s Best of Beauty – Best Undereye Concealer.
