There has been a lot of discussion this season surrounding Glamour’s decision to feature plus-sized models. While I totally support models of all sizes (just last night I was conversing with Sarah and calling-out the need for petite red-headed models!), I personally feel that a lot of the controversy can be avoided if magazines focus less on size of the woman and more on the clothes. And not a cop-out — like, how to wear a sack when you weigh 200-lbs — but genuine high-fashion. And who better to make any girl look jaw-droppingly sexy than Terry Richardson?
These are his advance photos from the upcoming V Magazine, “The Size Issue.” In the editorial, Hungry author and plus-sized model Crystal Renn rocks twin looks alongside newcomer Jacquelyn Jablonski. Both girls look — wait for it — fierce. But really, they both look stunning. Moreover, Renn is not one of those models who claims she is “curvy” but is actually skinny (ahem, Lara Stone).
Appropriately titled “One Size Fits All,” the intended effect – that fashion can flatter any figure - makes this relevant and evolves the conversation. And model Renn is a beauty — she has walked the runway for Jean-Paul Gaultier and graced the cover of American Vogue — with a brain to match: this fall, she famously penned her own weight and body image struggles within the model industry in a memoir, Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves.
Update: This feature went up roughly 10 minutes ago on The Cut and has already gotten blasted with comments. And for the record, the press release I received was not worded “a sizeable comparison.”

I don’t think V has any intention whatsoever of promoting plus size modeling. It’s just something to generate a lot of controversy as per usual. It’s a little boring. I agree about focussing more on the clothes. the bigger model is looks hot as hell who cares.
